GIPTA 2.0 and ASEAN SBAS Implementation Pathway

Scope status

This synthesis connects GIPTA source material to the existing ASEAN SBAS branch. It does not replace ASEAN SBAS Adoption Landscape, ASEAN SBAS Governance and Institutional Actors, or ASEAN SBAS Service-Model Options.

Main finding

GIPTA 2.0 adds a concrete implementation-learning pathway to the previously heuristic ASEAN branch: training and workshops, guideline/feasibility work, GNSS environment analysis, analyzer/testbed deployment, SBAS simulation, and capacity building.

Pathway implied by the source stack

  1. Build shared GNSS/SBAS literacy through ASEAN-facing workshops.
  2. Use guidelines and feasibility studies before selecting implementation geography.
  3. Accumulate low-latitude ionospheric data through analyzers and testbed work.
  4. Compare service-model choices: MSAS expansion, unique ASEAN SBAS, or phased selected-country introduction.
  5. Build policymaker and engineer capacity before operational commitments.

What changes in the vault

The ASEAN branch can now move from only “plausible regional synthesis” toward “GIPTA-source-linked planning evidence,” while still avoiding any claim that ASEAN has already selected or operated a common SBAS.
